How do I uninstall iPod Launcher?
iPod Launcher cannot be removed if it’s currently running. The easiest way to stop it is to remove it from your Login Items and then log out and back in again.

To delete iPod Launcher you can now simply move the preference pane from your /Library/PreferencePanes folder to your Trash.

Can I stop iPod Launcher from launching apps every time I connect my iPod?
Yes, you can select a minimum amount of time between launches. This allows you to configure your Mac to not launch applications every time you connect your iPod. For example, you can connect your iPod in the morning and have it launch your applications and then have iPod Launcher wait 8 hours before doing another set of launches. You can connect your iPod as many times as you want and applications won’t launch until those 8 hours have passed.

Will iPod Launcher bog down my Mac?
No. While iPod Launcher is always running, it spends most of its time sleeping and only does anything when an iPod is actually connected to your Mac.

One of my applications/scripts doesn’t launch when I connect my iPod. What’s wrong?
iPod Launcher stores the complete path (where to find files on your hard disk) to each application/script. If you move one of them iPod Launcher will no longer be able to find it.

To fix this, simply remove the application/script from the list of items to launch and then add it back in by selecting it from its current location.

Note that you can determine the location iPod Launcher is trying to find the application. Hovering your cursor over a launch item (within the iPod Launcher preference pane) will cause the path used by iPod Launcher to be displayed in a tooltip.

The back-up/syncing script doesn’t seem to support resource forks, can this be fixed?
This problem is due to the use of a Unix utility called rsync that will ensure that only changed files are copied to your iPod. There is a version that supports resource forks but you have to install it yourself. It’s called RsyncX and can be downloaded here. Once installed the scripts included with iPod Launcher will work with resource forks.

Do I need iPod Launcher?
If you’re one of those people that’s trying to make the most of your iPod then you need iPod Launcher. If every time you connect your iPod you have to launch applications to update your iPod’s data then you need iPod Launcher. If you use your iPod as a hard drive for transferring/backing up data then you need iPod Launcher; the AppleScripts provided are a great way to start automating your file copying.
